Cowboy Town

Spring Training baseball is upon us!!  With a meaningless loss yesterday, and a meaningless win today, the Rangers are a meaningless 1-1!!

The following is a journal entry I had to write for my English Comp class early last semester.  Now that certain events have transpired, this journal entry can be taken a little lighter, as opposed to the fury I felt when writing it.

September 15, 2010
This is "Dallas Cowboy's Country," nobody dare deny that.  I'm not going to try to deny that, and never will.  However, I'm a baseball fan, through and through.  I'd sit and watch a game between the worst two teams in Major League Baseball.  I can't help it, I'm just that passionate about it.  But what irks me is that it's September and the Rangers are relevant; and, I don't think anyone inside the Dallas/Fort Worth area can tell by watching the news or listening to sports talk radio.  This past weekend my beloved Rangers swept the hated Yankees here at home.  I'd be willing to bet that the Rangers got more airtime in New York this week based on the weekend the Yankees had and the start of football season in Dallas/Fort Worth.  The Rangers have been in the area since '72; since then, making the postseason only three times.  Even then, they won only one game.  Now, they are serious contenders and get no airtime.  I'm not real sure, but, the Cowboys have accomplished absolutely nothing in the past decade plus a few years, yet dominate the media around here.  A lot of people agree with me, it's just that the Cowboys rule here.  I'm certain that it would help the Rangers if local radio would throw them a bone.  Baseball season, playoffs included, will be over by the first week in November.  By then, football season will be maybe a third of the way through.  I don't see what it would hurt to talk about playoff baseball.  Also, football season is over in early February.  Spring training for baseball season begins in February.  You would think a member of the media would alert someone outside their community through their media outlets.  Of course not, then it's time to talk about how the football season ended miserably for the Cowboys until mid-April.  I'll be lucky to find out who won the World Series before Opening Day at my beloved Summer home, the Ballpark.

Thanks for reading my rant!

Day One

I've decided to try this blog thing... We'll see how long I can keep it up.  My ambition is to compose a blog a couple times a week.  I'll shoot for three times and settle for twice a week.  Again, we'll see.

A professor I had told our class one time to "write whatever happens to be on your mind.  It helps to stop writer's block," just let it flow. So, that's what I'm going to do...

On Sunday I made the decision to be baptized in the Baptist church (if you click the link, be prepared for the music) I've been attending regularly for about a year.  I'm really excited about it.  Really.  I grew up in church, but for some reason never really got too excited about church.  As a matter of fact, what I looked forward to most at church was the potluck lunch afterward.  When people give their testimony they can usually pinpoint a specific time in history when they were saved.  I have always questioned that, not aloud mind you.  I don't have to question that anymore.  I've been saved and I can tell you exactly when I felt it and where I was-I like to call that day "Day One."  I'm not perfect, I only know of one person in history who was. So, don't look to me for perfection, look to God.  I've never had the vigor for reading the bible that I have now.  That's a good thing!
